Best Z Wave Water Leak & Flood Sensors
Not only are smart home items for aesthetic purposes and making things cooler, but they are also utilizing things for functionality. Using the internet of things you can have better safety and other monitoring devices than what is conventionally used.
These leak and flood detectors are able to detect for liquids white connecting to your z wave enabled smart home setup. One thing to note is that not all of these products work with all z wave hubs, so it is best to check before ordering on Amazon.
These sensors can be used to do all kinds of things to your house including turning on the AC when it gets too hot or cold in a certain part of the house, detect leaks before they get worse, or any other creative mechanism that involves detecting the temperature, humidity, or liquids.
Wireless Water & Temperature Sensor White w/ Buzzer
The FortrezZ Wireless water & Temperature sensor connects to your z wave hub and sends leak detection, temperature reports, and battery status to the z wave controller.
This product is best used for detecting leaks in places such as under sinks, in bathrooms, next to washing machines, to protect from freezing temperatures, and more.
One important thing to note is that not ALL z wave hubs are compatible with this device and it is important to check before buying (more information can be found on Amazon). If you’re curious about anything else about the device, click the link below to be taken to the Amazon page.
Zipato Z-Wave Flood Multi-Sensor
The Zipato Z-Wave Flood Multisensor is made for indoor use with a Z-Wave device. It has the capability to detect temperature, humidity, and water/liquids. It has a range of 130 feet and can be connected to any z wave network.
it’s a straightforwars sensor to put anywhere inside your house (not reccomended for outdoors use) and unlike the FortrezZ can connect to any Z wave network.
FIBARO Flood Sensor, Newest Z-Wave Plus Water Leak & Freeze Detector,
The Fibaro Flood Sensor is a water leak and freeze detector. It comes with a temperature and tilt sensor and has the ability to detect floods and know what the temperature is. The sensor inside can measure the temperature and detects if there is a sudden change in temperature. For example if the pipes freeze.
The sensor floats if there is flooding and the tilt sensors will alert you if there is a flooding issue where it is placed. To top it all off the Fibaro is compatible with MOST Z Wave hubs including almost all major ones.
Aeotec Z-Wave Flood & Leak Sensor
The Aeotec Water Sensor is a flood and leak sensor that tracks and monitors leaks in real time. It can also be used with talks to detect the absence of water. The sensor is accurate enough to read as much as 0.03% of one inch.
This sensor is a little less fancy than some of the other sensors on this list, however the low price makes this sensor attractive over some of the other ones on this list. The Aeotec works with most z wave controllers including most of the ones made by major brands (Samsung Smartthings, etc).
Everspring Z-Wave Water/Flood Sensor
The Everspring Z-Wave Water/Flood sensor can connect to Z Wave devices and monitor for water leaks. Unlike some of the other devices on this list it only detects for leaks and does not check for the temperature.
It works with any 908.42 MHz Z-Wave network and includes a built in status LED. This sensor like the Aeotec Z Wave Flood and Leak Sensor is pretty basic, but the price makes it more attractive then a few of the other choices on this list.
Ecolink Zwave Plus Flood & Freeze Sensor
The Ecolink Zwave Plus Flood & Freeze sensor has the ability to detect both floods and if there is a risk of freezing. It comes with a 36 inch probe that can be used to quickly detect leaks under sinks, behind refrigerators, and other areas of your house.
The temperature sensor automatically alerts you to before a pipe freeze condition occurs at 41 degrees F. Like most of the other sensors here, it works with most z wave hubs currently on the market.
These are some of the best leak and flood detectors that work with your z wave hub. Although these sensors will not make your house look cooler or impress guests, they will add a level of functionality that will supercharge any home sensor setup. Sensors can be pretty boring, but when it comes to protecting your home from leaks and other threats they can be very important (or even keeping the temperature in the house at a certain range).
You’re able to connect them to your z wave network and do lots of creative things. Turn on or off the AC when part of your house reaches a certain temperature. The sky is really the limit, and these sensors give you an extra level of control and customizability in your home.
